OK OK, I did a search, and I'm not getting a clear understanding of what it is.

This should be a sticky somewhere (It's not defined anywhere in the FAQ).

Is it that the PCM quits working, or the engine itself suffers some kind of damage?

Does death flash occur on v10's as well?

I'm not looking for so much detail, but if this is a commonly asked question, then place a freakin sticky in the forums for cryin out loud.

 

^^ It is an extremely asked question. OK, I'll do my good deed for the week and help you out. The "Death Flash" is a software update done by your Dodge Dealer to retard the timing on your engine through the software in the PCM to eliminate the potential pinging coming from your engine. The pinging arises from a bad plenum which they opted not to fix. They took the cheap way out. Now you get it!
