Default New Member Help With 99' 1500

I've owned my 99' Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L for close to 3 months has 149,xxx , within a couple months of owning it i've put a new water pump and belt on it. After the first week the check engine light would go off found out that my stock airbox had a leak after I put some rtv on it the light would go off but every now and then it'd go off so i'd mess with my air box and it'd go back off. We'll ever since i've owned it it's been slugish. After the first couple weeks of driving i'd notice that it'd kind of sputter out sometimes, I thought maybe it was the cap and rotor along with wires and plugs so I threw new plugs in it and found out that the cap roter and wires were recently done. I do alot of towing for work moving boats and transporting snowmobiles and always noticed under load which really was no more then a 2 place snowmobile trailor or a 20 ft. boat it was extremly slugish, seems like it would hang in lower gears and really rev out more then it should. Well long story short the trans gave out today leaving my buddys house. Luckly he lives no more then 3 miles from my house but my truck just would not shift out of what ever gear i could not go any faster then 40 mph the motor would rev way out the trans or w.e. would not shift the rpms were at 5 grand and i was going 40 mph. I guess my real question is wtf is wrong and is there any way when I rebuild my trans if I can beef it up or any recomondaitions on what to do i plan on lifting the truck and putting it on 35's sometime after lifting it.
Thanks AT10

you prob have either

1) death flash- look on PCM for a software sticker
2)plenum leak- look down in throttle body for a puddle of oil
3) you prob need a tune up , cap-rotor-wires-plugs
4)should open it up a lil , new exhaust, cai small stuff
5)clogged cat
