Default Leaking Master Cylinder

My master cylinder reservoir appears to have a leak.

Is it just a bad seal?
If so, how do I remove the reservoir?

i HAVE THE SAME EXACT LEAK. I haven't fixed it yet, but I have researched it. The entire master cylinder cost $35 but if you buy just the grommets (stealership only part) they cost $18. Might as well change the whole assembly. Have you had any symptoms accompany this problem? when I press my brakes, they kind of chirp towards the end, like it's burping.

The reservoir and the balancing mechanism below it will come all as one piece and is an easy replace. Detach from brake lines and from booster and replace. I personally wouldn't bother replacing the seals when it's cheaper in the long run and safer to replace the entire unit. It's an easier replacement and you get two new parts which are critical in stopping this very heavy vehicle. If your seals are leaking that means the entire unit is slowly breaking down, that's an accident in the making.

Ditto on replacing the whole assembly because if you try to pull the resevoir of it will likely crack and you would have to get the whole assembly anyway. 35 bucks is super cheap insurance. Just make sure you bench bleed the new master or it will take you forever to leed your brakes when you replace it.

if your mc is leaking from the back were it connects to the boster then replace it right away. the brake fluid leaking into the boster can destroy the diaphram inside... i had the samw leak
