Their year data must be a bit skewed, maybe try emailing them ... Though I tried emailing about something else, and it bounced back to me in about 2 minutes.

Heres 2000 1500 setup, could prob tell by the pic if it would work for you.

I'm not so concerned about theft, but rather a secondary restraining device in case the cable fails again ,,, And its actually not the cable itself that is prone to failure, but the little gizmo holding it to the metal tongue.
Then again, it lasted 13 years, not bad for any under carriage component exposed to winter driving conditions.
But hell yeah, it would be childs play for anyone to scam a Ram spare, so long as they got the right rod and ratchet.

My guess would be that your dealer, or maybe even Chrysler, was testing out the idea of making these standard, and included them as standard in limited areas, including yours.
Apparently the idea did not catch on, as you seem to be the only one that has one.
Too bad it didn't. Simple, effective and cheap they seem to be.
They are basically modified clubs like the kind used on steering wheels.

That may be true, I have no idea. I always accepted it as being standard and never gave it a second thought. Now I realize how fortunate I was to get this truck at that dealer. That dealer also made a booboo and gave me a free alarm system. The person that checks in the cars (whatever they are called) in the garage area though my truck was going to be in the dealer stock so they installed a dealer only anti theft device. No body knew until I go to pick it up after work at 7:30pm and the sales guy says "Damn, that shouldn't be on there." My reaction was "Oh well." If it doesn't cost me anything I don't care. So the guy gave me the chip and says "Don't say anything about this.", so I said "OK". Maybe the lock was a similar situation, or you may be right it could have been a test in my area or that dealer. All I can say is, WooHoo!
