believe me i hear you guys about getting a car for commuting....if you had read posts from last year you would know why i no longer have a car and truck..

but anyway jason thanks for the info in your reply..and i agree the tread is a big thing in mpg so i would entertain an all terrain maybe, but im sure there has to be a medium between getting 11mpg with mud terrain 33's and 16mpg with regular 265's.

Hell, if MPG is your biggest priority, screw the all terrain idea. Just get a regular All Season tire like the Michelin LTX M/S or the Toyo Open Country H/T. Both good tires that will last a good time and have less rolling resistance than the A/Ts or M/Ts.

"If you want mileage, the size of the tire isn't everything, its also the tread. A mud tire will never get you good mileage."

thanks guys for all the ideas...im entertaining possibly just leaving the stock rims/tires on for commuting and then keep my 15x10's with the 33"s in the garage and swap em on when i go offroading and such...just was trying to find something that looked good all the time and got good mpg but idk now...perhaps ill look into getting another car for commuting in the next few monthes and throw the mudders back on at that point all the time.

I have a good happy medium. Buy a beater S-10. Mine gets 23 mpg with a auto transmission. I have seen guys on S-10 Forum get 30 mpg with a manual and light foot.

For $1100 I could buy a truck that gets 25 MPG. I dont think that my Ram could ever do that.

I also misspoke. 265s are 31s, not 33s. My apologies.

Anyway, your 265s are most likely not mud tires (as others have said) and are smaller, both of which contribute to better MPGs.
