ECU has no calibration
We have a fuel filter?????????? I thought we didn't have fuel filters on our trucks. I never saw anything on the driverside of the engine bay other than brake booster/master and such. I will have to check that out tomorrow. So when I was referring to the PCM as the ECM I was misquoting its nomenclature but we got the drift I hope.lol.

Well that's the thing, he plugged his ECM in BUT he retuned the ECM to spec of my truck and it still pinged like crazy. It most definitely isn't vin locked though since he has used it on multiple 2nd gen dodges..

I still want to know what causes pinging in my engine. And if I do get a superchips and it actually works how do I know it won't still ping with that? I thought the number 1 reason for pinging in these trucks was the blown plenum plate? I've got the Hughes on there so it shouldn't be an issue right? All I know is he said it's starving for fuel.
Okay, I muddled through about half of this thread. If the plenum isn't leaking, (just because you have done the hughes upgrade doesn't mean it still wont leak) and you still have pinging or predet, consider this: What is octane?
All octane is, is a fuel additive to control ignition time for gas itself. When you advance the timing (which, I presume that's basically what happens with that tune) your octane needs go up. You could try on your next fuel up, putting like a 91-94 octane in and see what happens.

You know what? I quoted the wrong stuff, my bad, I was totally wrong there. Diesels have a fuel filter and an accelerator pedal position sensor, gassers do not. Well, we do, but it's intrgrated into the regulator and not serviceable. The Service Manual doesn't designate diesel or gas very well in the electrical components listings. I was dead-dog tired last night posting that, my apologies.
I believe the gassers do have an ECM and a PCM, the ECM IIRC sits behind the PCM. I know I recall an old thread discussing ECM vs PCM. Unfortunately, you or I won't be able to search for it as the stupid forum filter drops anything with 3 letters or less, making most sensor related searches worthless. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
I've never heard of a hyptertech programmer with adjustable parameters like your describing, Terranova. I'm amazed they haven't marketed that, they could have made a killing before SCT.
