Quick Clutch Question
Hey all the time has come to redo the clutch on my truck. It's been slipping alot and with 150,xxx miles on the original clutch it's time for a change.
I've been looking at the kit from hays:

My question is, in the Service manual it says the disc on our truck clutch's is 11" but this 11 7/8". Will it install correctly since it's bigger? Also it says it's for 1-1/16-10 Input Shaft, I looked in the service manual but I couldn't find the size of the input shaft, is this the right size?
If I can't use this kit can someone give me the specs for what i need to pick one out, please? Service manual says 11" disc, but i still don't know about the input shaft...

To the OP, Are you wanting OEM replacement, or something better? In all honesty, I would go to a shop and have them build you a twin disk, and you'll never have an issue again. That's what we did on our 93 f-350 7.5 460 V8. Ran us about $500 for a build. Much better than an OEM part.
I did do a search for "clutch: and several other variation but I still couldn't find what i needed.
I'd like to upgrade to something a little better than OEM but I don't have the money right now, and with it starting to slip fairly frequently I'd like to get it done ASAP.
I was planning on doing this alot earlier but with the clutch not being an issue and with other problems that have come up with my truck such as coolant leaks(new radiator), new brake master cylinder, my front driveshaft needing rebuilt, as well as new rear brakes and a tune up, money is real tight. 350 is about all I have to spend right now.

There is nothing wrong with an OEM clutch on a fairly stock truck that isn't abused. The fact that it's got 150K on the original clutch is proof that it's up to the task.
Any autoparts store should have the clutch kit in stock.

i don't know. there's so few manual transmissions here in the ram section, that its almost never discussed. my son has 200k on his honda accord clutch. (knock on wood). i only got 70k out of an old mustang a long time ago.
funny story. i had a buddy with a 69 mustang that claimed you didn't need a clutch at all - he drove that mustang for a year w/o one. he'd park out away from everybody, either on a downhill slope or flat. if downhill he'd roll it off and just take off. if flat, he'd just crank the engine in gear and take off. but of course, he didn't do any city driving, and we didn't have any red lights anywhere around. lol. if he just absolutely had to stop he'd knock it out of gear and try to keep rolling just a bit. then he'd bump the gas just a little and yank the sob into gear and it'd bark the tires and take off. he got so good at it that it was a treat to watch.

You will find specs on this transmission. The input shaft and clutch diameter are critical dimensions ... particularly the pilot bearing diameter which I believe is 3/4". Your parts manual/service manual is your first line of info ... but you may find that obtaining some of the dims is hard w/those ... manufacturers don't always put out the dims and actual build-up of your truck may have a difference from what their computers tell them. BUT ... still go with the manufacturer info first. Changing the clutch is too much work to do with "well it may work" attitude.
The 117/8" disc off the top sounds too big but it depends on how it was measured. It could be the manufacture (Dodge) measured theirs on the friction material which could make their diameter slightly less.
Do your homework carefully before your purchase! Good luck.
