just dropped truck off to get looked at , the rear end is leaking where the drive shaft is going into the rear im hoping its just a seal nothing to exspensive, and plus i dont think the rear fluid has ever been changed and it has 130xxx on the clock. also getting the belt changed ...

pinion seal, i have to change the one on the dana 44 i have for my jeep, gonna do it before i put in too, mucho easier than climbing under the jeep to work on it

Same problem here, I have a pinion seal leak. It's a small leak so until i can afford to have it done I just keep up on the rear axle juice. It does make a mess when it coats everything while driving.

Just curious, is a pinion seal hard to replace?

yup ended up being a pinion seal .. about 300 bucks along with the belt changed , plus the fluid needed changed they used royal purple sythetic for the rear , so all good to roll now

If you have a lsd I hope they put that stuff in the rear diff!!

i wonder how much more to put in a 4.10 or 4.56 since they are going to be back there i know i shouldn't put that idea in your head

To replace the pinion seal, you need an INCH/LBS torque wrench to check resistance. Look in a Haynes manual and they will tell you why. Not a big project but better if a good mechanic does it for you.
