Alright so which one do you guys recommend? I'm leaning towards the SCT tuner just because I ave nothing but great experience with that company. But I'm also hearing that some guys are running hypertech or Superchips. Any input would be great. Thanks.

Look at it this way. Hyper is good, but superchips > hyper. Super chips, hyper < SCT. As you prolly know super and hyper are canned tunes for your model truck, going off of basic specifications. Sct is completely custom tuned for your ram, for what you have done and for what you want to do. SOOO in a nutshell, get SCT if you plan on doing anything mild to serious with your ram. I have SCT, i love it.

Oh and, welcome to the forum.

mild to wild def get the SCT, but if you want something that will give a noticeable difference to your truck and dont plan on going all out for awhile, pick up a Superchips 3715/3815 off CL or ebay for cheap. i say go with CL b/c theres nothing like haggling when you meet up with someone. i got my 3715 for $150 in may but down the line once i get cam/headers/RRs/intake/heads/390 stroker kit (yea folks im stickin with the 318) im definately moving upto an SCT but thats a few years (and a huge chunk of change) off so i said eff it, not like ill lose more than $50 tops for 2-3 years of a better ride. IMHO

I take it that a tuner is a night and day difference? The truck isn't slow just seems like it could be opened up a abit. Oh and it's a 2001 extra cab 5.9 offroad package with 26k miles.

Have had SCT for about a year, loved it then, and with each new mod followed by a tune update, I love it more

ive had both a hypertech and a superchips. the hypertech was a small improvement over stock, but continued to shift the TC lock and OD at speeds that seem too low (40-45). it also wouldn't correct my speedo for some unknown reason. so just to be doing, i tried a superchips. it seems to be a little more peppy, although my gas mileage might suck more. i'm not sure yet on the mpg. superchips also reprogrammed my TC lock and OD shift. its now tooling around city driving and staying in the 2000 rpm sweet spot of the engine, rather than the dead dog lower rpm's.

if you plan to burn a lot of money on engine mods, go with SCT. if you plan to stay stock, get a superchips. f*** hypertech and their single year only application. superchips is available new on ebay for $230 shipped. used is ok if its not vin locked, but beware of that.

Yea I'm gonna go with SCT. I think the guy on here hemifever was the one to talk to? I'll also be putting extra clutches in the tranny to make it the same clutch and steel count as the diesel versions such as the 47re.
