Default 2500 steering linkage - Diesel Vs. Gas

I was looking at my friends 99 2500 cummins the other day and noticed he has a different draglink/tierod setup than me. The only two differences between the trucks are the year and the fact that his is a diesel. both trucks use a Dana 60 front.
Has anyone else noticed the different setups? the diesel looks much stronger because it has a tierod that connects both knuckles together with the draglink connected to the tierod and pitman arm.
Is this related to diesels or the different years? V10 guys please speak up. its getting time to replace some stuff it would be nice to know if i can swap over to this setup.

I don't know if there is a difference between gas and deisel, but there were some changes in 2000. They changed some front end parts in 2000 like switching to a 2 piston caliper. The knuckle is also different which would explain the difference you are seeing in the linkage.

that may be a custom setup, to my knowledge, all the second gen rams had the same steering setup, but i know that the location of the steering stablizer changed some

i have seen it on other diesels as well. im pretty sure one of them was an '01 so it would have the same knuckles as my truck.

I also noticed that the diesel tierod doesn't have the mount for a steering stabilizer like mine has, im sure most of you have the same setup as me.

It changed, I'm pretty sure, in 98. Some 2500s and the 3500s have the setup you are referring to. And then I believe they all started switching to that.
Check this.

I just bought all the parts this week and will be putting them on my 1500 this weekend. I'll post how it goes. There is a slightly different taper. The difference is .02 so I think it will be ok. When I post, I'll put up part numbers, pricing, etc.
