Default no back up lights?

Hey All, is there some kind of a switch/sensor on the trans to control the back up lights? my fuse is good, as are the bulbs. I've only recently gotten this truck, 99 Ram sport, 318,5 spd, and one bulb was out, which I replaced and they were working fine, then off and on, now just off! any ideas? thanks for your help-Ed

The neutral safety switch/back up switch is indeed located on the tranny. The are known to fail without cause. go to any parts store and pick one up just try to elevate the side of your truck that the switch is on to lessen the amount of fluid lost while replacing the switch.
