Default Plan to mod the interior

So I seen a buddy of mine had these red lights under his dash in his truck that gave it a nice glow and it gave me this idea.

What if I get the interior plastics painted black (would match the steering wheel, dash, etc), get a black seat cover, dye the carpeting black and then put some lighs up under the dash to give the floor some glow. I was thinking either green, blue, or red.

My main question is would it be better to go with LEDs? Would Neons be too bright for what I want?

LEDs have a longer lifespan, are cheaper, and look less ricerish.

Thats funny, you are trying to create exactly what my Mustang already has in it. The "My Color: Ambient lighting" feature lets you light up the floor area with different color lights that you select by cycling through them. Ford uses a LED and it cycles through the colors probably by changing voltage or current, I dunno. Its not very bright, but it's OK if you want to be able to drive at night. If it were to bright it would probably blind you inside the car. You don't have to make all the color changes to your interior to get it to work. It will work fine with any color interior. In actuality a lighter color would probably be better than dark. I have a black interior, so everything is black, and it tends to suck up the light. There is nothing for the light to reflect off of. Neons would be way to bright and will make it hard for you to drive.
