I have found out yesterday evening why my o2 sensor are not working. Well the ordinal wiring got cut or pulled out from the plug to the o2 sensor. Now I need to replace all the wiring for both of them. Any ideas what wire's I should use on to replace them with, plus to keep them from getting cut / pulled out.

My Ram is a 1996 1500.

I really could use some good Ideas on it.

o2 sensor wiring harness is bad.

 

You want to use the same grade of wire that is already on there. For something as sensitive as an O2 sensor you don't want to through off resistance or anything else by changing the wire grade. I haven't looked under there in a while, but I would think it's probably a 14-18 gauge wire. The harness itself you should be able to get at any auto parts, if not then the dealer for sure. When you do run the new wiring, if you are tying into the old wiring, be sure to solder it together for a better connection.

Why the heck did those wires get cut/pulled out? They are critical to the proper running of the PCM. Put something like a loom or any type of protection around them to prevent this from happening again.

 

I really don't know because I have only had this truck now about two years. Nothing really wrong with it until now.
