Default New to the forum and a request of help

Hey guys, been told by couple of friends this forum gets a bit of action in terms of advice, help and suggestions about trucks. I myself love forums, as i am part of a bimmer forum and a jeep forum. I actually search forums for the best advice.

My pops has a dodge ram 2500 01, cummins diesel truck and it has a transmission problem. It seems that it starts up on second, and power is minimal! So we're always manually changin gears in order not to strain the engine. Was wondering if you guys can shed some light on the situation, with any types of advice, pictures, or suggestions as what we should do.

We have replaced the fluid in the transmission, and the problem persists.

thanks for readin guys.

I'm assuming it has an automatic transmission?
Will it only drive in 2nd gear, never shifting up or down?
If so, it's in limp mode and something is wrong with the controller.

hey guys, thanks much for the replies. The transmission does gear up and down, but it takes excessively long to do to! So i find myself have to start rather slow....when coming up on 3rd gear i have to give it a rev so it finally changes into higher gear.
