whine problem

Default whine problem

Whenever i drive my truck it seems that i have a supercharger under the hood, i have the whine but no supercharger. I think this is a problem but dont know what it is, i have heard that it maybe the timing chain. Can anybody help me. Thanks in advance

Anything that runs off the serpentine belt could be a problem. That means the alternator, A/C compressor, power steering pump or idler pulley. Usually a bad bearing on one of these items is the culprit, most likely the alternator or idler pulley that are sealed. A timing belt doesn't usually whine and since all these trucks use a timing chain that isn't the issue anyway.

well the thing is when i have the gas pressed it whines and when i let of the gas it doesnt whine.

use a piece of pipe as a stethoscope to listen to all the moving parts.
DON'T stick it in a moving part and DON'T get killed.

ps pumps and alternators tend to whine.

It could be the radio. If my radio is off I hear a whine just like your talking about through the speakers.
