Question HELP pic of metal in trans pan

Can anybody identify it? pulled the pan to do a service and there it lay!!!

I may be wrong here, but IIRC, that's a piece off the clutch packs....

I've seen pictures like that before.
I believe the big piece is part of a snap ring.
Don't remember where from, but it ain't good.

So what your saying is I need to bring her in to a trans shop pronto!! Does this mean total rebuild or just a repair??

I'm not much on tranny's, but that picture rang a bell.
Saw it on Dodge Talk .com.
Leave out the spaces.

Yeah, I was going to suggest snap ring, too, but the arc of that small piece indicates a very large circumference.

It still runs the same I am gonna talk to a couple trans shops this week, whatever it is it must have a purpose

I'm sure it does have a purpose. If it is part of a retaining/snap ring there is a much larger part of it still doing its job, but for how much longer? I wouldn't drive it any more than I had to before having it checked out.

search on here.....a guy had a ram and durango and his was a piece of his overdrive snapring......comments said that it was no big in the immediate future, but might as well start saving $
