You could try looking on ebay for the center caps. I'm sure you can find them on there and cheaper than a dealer

Or have someone stateside buy them and mail them to you. I used to have a few extra laying around, but I think I have used them all now. You'd be suprised how many times I have come out of a store, and found them removed from my truck while it sat in a parking lot. Guess people didn't want to pay for them from a dealership.

You'll be happy with the offroad wheel. A 35x12.50x17 tire on the off-road wheel will rub the control arm though because 5.25" of backspacing is just a tad too much. But, the rub is only at full turn, and there are ways to prevent/minimize it, including tire selection. For example, the 35x12.5x17 Toyo M/T's I have rub the arms because there is so much extra lug on the side of the tires (sidebiters). They are almost 13.50" wide. So a true 12.50" wide tire with no side biters may not rub at all. Another option is to get some 315/70/17's. Since the section width on these is 315mm, that works out to about 12.4" wide. So even less chance that they will rub the control arms if using these stock off-road wheels, and they are nearly 35" (something like 34.5"). The upside of that much backspacing is that it puts a lot less stress on your hubs because your not hanging your wheels way out. So you can run 35's and not wear out parts like when you have really low backspaced rims. My 35's have been on for almost 3 years now with no issues on the hubs. I've seen guys with wheels that have low backspacing specs complain about parts failing after a lot less time then that.

This has been an interesting thread to read. Glad I don't live in Germany.

Try centercaps.net thats where i got mine from. They do tend to fallout alot when i had my off road rims. Now theyre superglued in haha. Well...now i have different rims.

Also, the rims your looking for in the config. you need may not be made anymore. When I was shopping for rims, alot of the ones I wanted were discontinued in the config we need for our rams.

hi guys,

now i got it !
i have placed my order at centercaps.net -many thanks @mowhawk.

You´d be suprised how much the centercaps cost in germany.
I have talked to the local chrysler dealer here and he called me back in the afternoon:
Now sit down: including shipping and custom duties: 75 EURO / each !!!!!!
... these are round about $100 for ONE cap !!!!!! What a RIP-OFF !!

you see it´s very hard to ride a "non-european-truck" here in germany...but i love my RAM :-)

@Silver_Dodge:
thank you for your interesting posting. Can you still give me a couple of tips for my tires ?
I love tires with shoulder profile - you say "sidebiters", so my favorable tire is the Cooper Discoverer STT.
Some guys here in germany ride these tires on 17 x 9 rims. The STT has a really aggressive look...
Now you say "sidebiters" rub the control arms, so i guess that the STT maybe rub my control arm too.

Ok, another option is a 315/70/17 tire - i understand, but this config is not available for the STT.
In addition the STT has a approved minimum rim width from 8.5 inch but the Dodge-offroad rim is only 8 inch wide.
Here, take a look : http://www.coopertire.com/html/produ...e=S&sorttype=T

What can i do ?
Do you think the STT rub ?
Which tire can you also recommend to me ?

You talk about possible stress with the "hubs" . What does that mean ?
I don´t understand. Did you mean the wheel hub ? .. and you have no issues why what ??? sorry :-)

so long

Probably will, but it really depends on what the actual width is. My Toyo's for example are supposed to be 12.50", but with the side wall lugs, they are closer to 13.50"

Ya, i think you will rub the control arms with those. Just my opinion.

I'm a fan of the BF Goodrich All-Terrain. They look aggressive too, but can be gotten in the 315/70/17 size. Great tire though. The only thing they are not great at is for use in heavy mud.

CruiserY2K
Yes, the wheel hubs and the unit bearings in the hubs. Putting a heavy tire on the Dana 44, and then getting a wheel that sticks it out of the wheel well causes a lot of stress on the those components.

CruiserY2K

CruiserY2K
What I was saying is that I believe that you will have less issues with this type of stress if you run the factory off-road wheel like I have because it has 5.25" of backspacing, which means the wheel is not really sticking out that far. If you went with some aftermarket wheel with say 4.50" backspacing, the wheel would stick out a lot farther, and if it is a heavier 35" tire on it, that will put more stress on your hubs.

If your current wheels are steel, the lug nuts may or may not have conical seats.

I also want to comment on your choice of a 17" wheel. I have recently been tire shopping and the choice of styles and sizes is much greater for 16" than 17". Also, prices for 16" tires are slightly lower. There's not any real mechanical or performance advantage of a 17" over a 16" wheel, it's strictly aesthetic (more shiny wheel to see). My 2500 came stock with 16" wheels. Something to consider.

At the moment i wait on the orderred centercaps for the offroad rims...

Heiko

Keep us posted on how it goes once you get the wheels installed. We'll want to see some pictures.
