It is definitely the A/C compressor, also called a "blower", I am 95% sure. It is supposed to do that whenever its need for either cool air (A/C) or to remove moisture from the air.

I will see if mine comes on for main vents + legs tomorrow when I drive it to my realtor's office to look at more houses, and get back to you.
