Default Alternator ID Question

It looks like these trucks came with a 117 amp or a 136 amp alternator. How can I tell the difference between the two when picking one from a junk yard?

I can tell you that the stud on the back of the alternator where the wire attaches is larger in diameter on the 136a alternator. I upgraded alternators and had to change the end on the wire to one with a larger opening.

you also need to be aware that some years had a 6 rib pulley while others had a 7 rib.

If one had a 117 stock would upgrading to the 136 be worth it?

If one had a 136 stock what's a good one to upgrade to?

I'm pondering beings mine looks like crap buying a new one.

I wish I knew where around me I could take it. I would do a deal like indy did and have them take it apart. I'd paint it then they could put it back together

For me the choice was easy. I needed a new one and the 136a was only $20 more.
