hello, ok i bought a 96 dodge ram 1500 5.2 4x4 and my trans is slipping a little bit and wanna replace it b4 its to late and i found a transmission and transfercase for 150 bucks and he says theres only 50000 miles on them both.. but heres the thing i was wondering he said it would bolt up to 5.2 or 5.9 but his truck was a 1988 would it fit and bolt up to my truck and would everything be the same??

 

That's awfully cheap for both if they are actually in working condition.
I believe that is right that it would fit to either engine.
Whether or not a 1st gen will work on a 2nd gen is another story. Your computer needs certain signals. If it has no way of getting those signals, it won't work.
