why is everyone trying to split up the 2nd gen section so much?
i could see having an off topic, a "about to buy a ram" section, and a tech section (which includes interior, exterior, engine and suspention all in the same section).

if the 2nd gen forum gets split up too much then it will be like DT and only have a few new posts in each section and you will have to go to each section just to find the new posts instead of just opening one and having all the new ones right there together.

I AGREE 100000% and that is why I am here and not DT. I go to DT for regional section, and classifieds because neither compare with DF. I have about 1500 posts here, and maybe around 150 over at DT and that is exactly the reason why. I shouldn't have to flip back and fourth between sections to offer my help. It got to be more work than it was worth. The other thing is even if you do split it up, you still have to search just as you have to with the current method.

i have a suggestion for any mods/admin guys that can change the format of the site. how about modifying the search to group words together. if i search for something like "whooping noise in engine" then it will bring up every post that has whooping, noise, and engine in it and a lot of the threads it brings up in the search are unrelated. maybe it is already like that and i don't know how to use the search but i think it would be good to have a little check box that makes it only search for all words together instead of searching for each individual word and bringing up a list of unrelated crap.
I know he got at least one...

Sheriff, if you add quotations around your search, IE "whooping noise in engine" the search feature will group all of those words together in its search.

Maybe when you begin a new thread, you can categorize what you think it is under, such as electrical, exhaust, etc. so then when you are searching for a specific type of problem, you can find more specific threads easier by picking different categories through the advanced search. Plus, you can still skim through the top threads just like we can do now.

Or there could be a way to change your preferences so DodgeForum could be tailored to your needs/wants.

Simply using descriptive thread titles and spelling them properly would make the search function a lot more accurate. Threads like, "Newbie needs help!" or "What fits my RAM?" don't help the situation.

I just thought it would be a simpler way to narrow results down, because:
1) Not everyone is going to write a helpful, descriptive title for their thread
2) If a person could find the thread they need easier, then there will be less reposts of already discussed topics.

It could just be a section where you put check marks next to the categories that you think have to do with the new thread.

Maybe we can make it so that those threads cannot be posted. Every thread must have a descriptive title. I had a misfire and titled one of my threads with WTF is WRONG??? back in my early days. In 2 days I got 3 posts in that thread. Well, I posted another thread with the same content, just a more descriptive title (Cylinder 2 and 4 misfire) and people started acually reading that thread and posting what the prob. could have been. I had it fixed in one week. "Help me!!!" threads dont get as much attention as the threads that have a descriptive title.

Please DO NOT make Dodge Forum like Dodge Talk!!!! It is much harder to navigate that site than Dodge Forum. This site is already much better than Dodge Talk, so why would you make this one like the site that is in last?

How about a sticky posted at the top of the 2nd gen forum that tells you what to look for when buying a 2nd gen ram. Instead of new people coming in here and posting a ''what do i look for when buying a ram?'' thread instead of doing a search. The Thread could be called ''What to look for when buying a 2nd gen ram'' or somthing like that.. Could post all the info from the trannies to the plenum to the death flash-And what to do to solve those Problems. Then when the people sign up they could just click on that sticky at the top of the 2nd gen section. And they would know what to look for and also know what to do to solve that problem..

I dont know..Sounds like a cool idea to me. We will see i guess
