Hi, will 285/75r/16 fit on my 1999 2500 4x4 diesel?

Affirmative. If you are running stock rims, there should be no issues.

they should. be sure and get the proper load range E for your 2500.

I have a stock 02 ram 2500 with 315/75r16 and they fit pretty good with minor rubbing at full lock so your 285's will deffinately fit.

Okay

How about if i switch to 17" rims, will they fit?
And, since I will rarely carry any weight, would d"s work?
I'm looking at the Yokohama Geolander AT/s 258/75r/?

258/75 isnt a size. they go in increments of 5. the size of wheel doesnt matter, as long as you use the proper offset.
