MAF sensors are used primarily on vehicles that run in closed loop most of the time. The Dodge only runs in closed loop when idling and when cruising, otherwise it is in open loop mode.

souns like exact same problem i had, they checked every sensor and fuel pressure. not the problem. think it was plenum or intake gaskets, took it for a drive didn't do it again. led to other problems as they may have screwed up the installation led to other problems

This is the Dodge RAM truck forum. Comments above are related to that fact. The Eclipse and vehicles like it use the MAF sensor and closed loop operation far more than these trucks do.

zman... why did you say to unscrew the front 02 sensor and see what it does? the reason i ask is my truck does a similar thing where i will just be driving along and then i lose power and just watch my rpm drop even if i stomp on the gas. I checked the codes and it said i need a new 02 sensor, would this (most likely) fix the problem? when i checked it, it was sending out eratic voltages.

that should tell you to change it right there.
zman said to unscrew it because when the catalytic converter gets plugged up the truck will loose rpms and feel like its stalling along with random cylinder misfires. unplugging the sensor acts as a temporary pressure relief to let you know if it is the cat that is causing your symptoms.

Sherriff is right, that is the reason I said to unscrew it.
