Default wondering about oil

i was wondering if using a heavier weight oil on my truck would hurt it. i found on here that it can help with the burning oil. i know my plenum is bad i just dont have time to replace it right now. so untill i do i found this as a solution to help slow the burning i was just wondering if it was safe to us 15w40 in summer and this winter use 10-30 if it isnt already fixed by then.

I'd just deal with the burning oil until you can fix it (and fix it soon!). I'd run 10w-30 all the time. The longer you wait, the more the burned oil fouls your spark plugs, coats and ruins the O2 sensors, and ruins the catalytic converter. Spark plugs are cheap enough to fix, O2 sensors and CCs not so much.

Running thicker oil may slow the leak, but it will still leak.
