Steering wheel not returning to center

check the steering shft if you have play in the steering....i had about 2-3 inches and it was a sloppy fit in the telescoping shaft where they meet......a good shim and jbweld and everything works great now....I only mention it because I too almost over adjusted the box to try to remove it.... I read it wears them out quick so hopefully you caught it early.

I loosed the screw on the steering box at least one turn and I don't think it's any better. It's still sticky and wandering around. I was really hoping that was the fix. Maybe I should loosen it some more tomorrow...

Sorry, but that is not going to help. The box is bad or something else is as previously mentioned. BTW, I would adjust the box back to where it was, in case it's not the box. Leaving it loose will not be good for it.

Just found a TSB on this issue and the ball joints being the cause. I think that's next.
