Default 46RE trans upgrades?

what can i do to beef up my 46RE trans?

What upgrades do you guys recomend?

Also i got a build sheet from the dealer the other day, (i originally stopped in to see about getting a new dash bezel as mines all cracked, and broken) and looking through it, i saw with the axles, it has a code of DSA, and the describtion says axle- anti-spin differencial. Am I right to assume that i have a limited slip diff? and my rear axle is a code DRM corporate 9.25 LD. I would like to know so i can lookin into getting a new set of gears. what would you recomend for running tires sizes from 33"-35" possibly 36"?

shift kits are always a good way to start out. i personally recommend transgo. but if you want to "beef up" your tranny, it would have to be rebuilt with beefier parts, such as more clutch disks. proper maintenance and maybe a few preventative measures (like an external tranny filter) should do the trick though. As for gears 33"-4.10, 35 or 36"-4.56

I believe they were all limited slip. Umm I would say at least 4.10's maybe bigger. Other people would give you a better answer on that honestly. Mine came stock with 4.10's and thats what was put back in it when I had the rear rebuilt. I don't plan on changing them when I put bigger tires on.

What was teh price you got for the bezel? I was told like 356 or 365 today. The parts guy said that they some how changed the vents so my stock vents wouldn't work and that didn't include them in the price. The service dept. at that dealer broke my bezel over a year ago and still hasn't replaced it. I was in complaining about it today yet again. The guy was like "oh you talked to Pete in parts? he can't get it?) i said "yeah he said it would be 365 bucks" His reply was "yeah well we're not doing that" I will never take another vehicle there for service again. They started as a Ford dealer now sell everything. When I took my stang there they messed up the cener console and had to buy a brand new one to replace it. It was funny cause all they did was tear the rubber around the e brake.

Oh and I also asked about a new dash top. Dude said he ordered one for a guy last week and it was around 400 bucks. They make ****ty parts then charge out the *** for you to replace their junk

yep thats what i was told, i was also told that 2 vents were 75 a piece, and the other was 65, and on top of that you had to buy the clips 13 of them at that. so in the end i was looking at around 1300 for a new dash top, and bezel, he also said there were otehr changed piece that had to be bought as filler pieces, shipping, and clips, and the vents. even the parts guy i was talking to said that was rediculous, especially when dodge was at fault for the common cracked dash. i dont think he was supposed to, but hes the one who printed out the build sheet for me. he was actually really nice, and wasnt a dick like some of the other parts guys ive dealt with in the past were.
even though the svc. dept was suppsed to check for recalls, he tried to check, but the program just wouldnt open, but he was very patient with me, i wish there were more parts guys like him, hell i wish dodges ceos were like him. then maybe a piece of plastic wont cost 350 bucks. it probly costed them 35 bucks to make the damn thing.

ha ha yeah the guy I was dealing with was typing in the numbers and just went "wow" I knew it was bad then. i hope they figure something out to replace my bezel so I don't have to buy one. 350-400 for a new top is gonna be bad enough

ya, i personally think dodge should replace ALL cracked pieces(including the bezel) in the affected model years (94-02) FREE(including cost of labor).

No, they don't all come with LSDs. Mine did not, it is an open.

All 1994-2001 Ram 1500s come with the Dana 44 front axle and Chrysler/Corporate 9.25 rear axle.

It costs a hell of a lot more than $35 for them to make a plastic piece, but I get what you're saying. The markup on those items is pretty big, especially from a dealer.

For a new dash, when mine cracks, this is where I'm going:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...%3D1&viewitem=

As far as replacing them for free: the trucks are out of warranty. Forget about Dodge doing anything with anything for free unless its a safety issue. It does suck, they should have built the dashes better, however... asking them to do it for free is like buying a computer with a 3 year warranty, and then four years later, demanding they replace the hinge to the screen or part of the case because of a stress crack. Does it suck? Yes. Should it have lasted longer? Probably. Any way in hell a manufacturer of any kind will stand by their product after their warranty? No. And thinking that they should/will stand by their product past the warranty period is very naive.
