Plastic tailgate panel
Could anyone be so kind as to tell me how to remove the plastic panel that covers the lower portion of our tailgates. I'm planning on debadging and cleaning up my truck's look and I want to start with the tailgate.
Please and thankyou!

I haven't debadged mine yet so ill be watching this thread, but my best guess would be a heat gun.
It is attached to the tailgate with double sided tape. Heat gun, thin plastic spatula and elbow grease. After its off you can use one of those eraser wheels on a drill to clean up any adhesives left behind.
my truck is totally debadged and when i took off the tailgate strip and the black strips on the doors underneath them the paint is stained yellow and there was water, the paint peeled off in places because the paint was so soft. Be careful, i used a heat gun and a plastic spatula. I have to get those areas that were covered painted now.
i took mine off with nothing.... pried up at one corner then manhandled it off, but as mentioned above, if you have shoddy paint under, it may not be your best idea....when i took the trim off my drivers side, it took a thin layer of bondo off on one little spot
Thanks guys, but the paint doesn't really concern me. I figure with the paint fade and the rock chips, I'm going to just go ahead an strip and repaint my tailgate. So anything short of dammaging the metal of the tailgate, I would consider doing to debadge it.
So am I understanding correctly? The panel is held on by double sided tape and can just be pried off maybe with the help of a heat gun?
