Ideas on cams??
well guys my ram has started clicking/ticking. weve decided that ive got a couple bad lifters. and seems as ill have to take the top end off. i thought why not go one step more and put a cam in it. i was wondering if any one has done this and what a safe size to put in will be. i guess what is the computer able to compinsat for? i was thinking a 20-745-9 comp cam 264/270 duration with.480/.480 lift?? any ideas or help would be great.
I would go with one of the Mopar Performance Purple Shaft cam and lifter sets. I put one in my truck and really like the perfomance gain I got from it, plus the way it runs sound good to. Adv. Duration is 272/278, lift .467/.482, it is rated at +10 hp over R/T. I would change the rockers and push rods also when you do this.
Sanford was your 5.9 stock when you made the cam switch? Also what gears are you guys running? That and tire size makes a big difference on cam selection. I want to do a swap and need a proven cam with my gear ratio-3.92's.

My engine was stock when I put the cam in, but when I put the cam in I also put an single plane intake from mopar performance, and a set of shorty headers. Here is the cam part number I put in my truck #P5007551, that number may be different now but about a year ago or so it was right. As far as gears I am running a 4.10 and when I had 33's on my truck I thought I had plenty of power on the low end.
