As for the lifter- I thought about a engine flush, but like you said, I will have to live with it.
I decided to go with the high flow cat.

Wether you gut it or replace it, do the O2 sensor cheap mod( Next time I do one, I'll take piccies) Mine is gutted, did the mod, no check engine light in the past few thousand miles. 10 bucks, 20 minutes, and Bob's your uncle. Get a new 1/2" drill bit, those antifoulers are nasty metal.
That being said, my 98 Jeep had a gutted cat, yet never triggered a check engine light. My dodge would in a heartbeat.
