Default Need a rear-end guy

Took the cover off my rear diff and found a stray piece of metal on the magnet. The piece looks like a piece of pipe split in half longways, with a "W" shaped piece welded on either side. It is about the size of my thumbnail. Axle is 9.25 inch with trac-lok. I think it is a trac lock item, maybe a retainer of somekind. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Take a picture if you can. That may help.

Digital camera is down right now. I looked at the FSB exploded diagram for the trac-loc and I think it is a retainer.

That sounds very typical for the 9.25, it does have something to do with the LS, I believe it is some kind of retainer.

retainer clip things for the clutch packs. it seems like 90% of them are broken. small pieces that fall to the magnet without chewing up the gears or bearings are good things. those that don't are the bastards. your lsd may continue to work ok forever as is. just keep your fingers crossed.

A good way to spend an afternoon is going to the mall, find a good seat and watch the gals rear ends as they strut.
