Well I didn't go guys. I thought about it really and called the guy again. He was like what guy are you and what truck do you have... I got worried it was a scam. I also read on internet about the rot they get and how hard it is to fix. and all the other hundreds of thing they have wrong with them. I know my truck and what I got into it. even if the tranny goes. I know a guy who will fix it for 1500.00 and he says he will warranty it and make it bullet proof. I love my truck, and dont want to risk getting scammed. I dont have a big bank account or I would love to have it. Thanks guys for all the input and I appreciate all the time you guys spent on helping me with this.I also looked on craigs list for him trying to sell it and it wasn't on there he lives in Wichita kansas. and if he wanted to get rid of it he could on craigs list if he priced it low, then go buy him whatever he wanted easy. TOOO many red flags for me

Do what you gotta do man. I at least would have went to check it out no doubt. Most of the time people want to scam you, they do it where you dont actually see the car and say "yeah this is what you are buying... Im gonna ship it to you" My roommate ran into that when looking at a Nova on craigslist where he wanted him to wire the money and wouldn't meet up to check out the car. Heck maybe the guy just wanted a pickup and didn't really care. Infact my neighbor up the street just got a 01 harley sportsman for free. The guy who had it is going oversea's for a few years and said look... I could trade it in at harley and not get what its really worth but I don't want to. I also don't want to sell it to some shmuck around here. I'd rather give it to you because I know you'll take care of it. He signed the title over and that was that. My jaw dropped when he told me this, it has very few miles and looks like it just rolled right off the showroom floor.

Haha yeah... you said it sounds like a scam. More like your scamming him LOL. If you didn't feel comfortable, then I guess you did the right thing.

We see deals like this all the time here. The seller meets you in a parking lot, everything looks good and the sale/trade is made. Then when you go to transfer title, it is flagged as either stolen or fraudulent. Meanwhile, the seller has your money or your car with clear title. Unlike Florida (where I grew up), title/transfer documents don't have to be notarized here and scams are plentiful. Even if he wasn't going to scam you, there's no legitimate reason why he would trade that car for a vehicle of lesser value unless it is a ticking timebomb and he knows it. You're probably better off passing on it, but someone else will likely get taken.

If you have a good eye for body work you can always tell when its been repaired with bodyfiller not bondo, that **** hasent been used since the 70's so I can tell most of you experience comes from your own garage. My point was fibreglass hides alot more damage ie rust then steel and no fiberglass is easy to repair but not paint. Fiberglass not rusting is a huge concern when trying to figure out the age/condition of a vehicle and my point was someone with a vette isent going to trade straight up for an average pick up. Use your brain...To bad about the trade its a nice car but you deffinatly made the right move, at least you know what is wrong with your truck and what it needs. Who knows what that vette would have been like.

I tradeded this... for my run of the mill truck (stock truck pic is in car domain)

Bottom line is... don't sit here and call it a scam, call it anything really if the OP hasn't gone to even test the waters. You's may have your doubts about it being too good to be true, but you'll never know if you never talk to the guy and check it out. I traded my car for the truck because I needed a winter vehicle and I couldn't see putting that many miles on the mustang exp driving back and fourth to school. Heck, she only had 37k original miles when I got her 47k when I traded.

Dude, why would you trade a cherry ride like that straight up for a run of the mill truck you can buy all day long? Maybe your reasons made sense to you at the time, but you could have gotten some nice coin for that Mustang, bought a clean RAM and still had money left over had you done it right. Nope, still illegitimate.

Been to the auto part store lately?? They still sell Bondo friend. I just bought a gallon a few months ago ( Might want to check your facts before you try to bash someone on the internet and end up looking like a ,,Well you know). Fiberglass is just as easy to work with as any BRAND body filler. Painting is just as easy if you know what your doing, Which I do. You can hide anything with body fillers ( Bondo) that you can hide with fiberglass. So again I call BS.
