hey guys. '95 hood latch, can it be adjusted up and down? when the hood is latched down i can get my fingers underneath the grill and lift up, and when i do that there is a little play up and down with the hood and i don't think its supposed to be there. just wondering if the mechanism part itself can be adjusted up or down? in my case i would need to lower it a bit to get it to latch tighter. i guess i could just go try it myself but wanted to see if anyone else had to do this same thing! and when driving, i can see the hood shakin up and down which i'm sure can't be good. thanks

 

I can put my fingers under the hood when it is closed...

 

the cross member in front of the radiator has a rubber plug on each end with a gigantic phillips screw in the center. give them about a half turn counter clockwise and close the hood to check it. you'll have to mess with it a little but you'll eventually get it adjusted correctly. you want it tight but not too tight.

i just adjusted mine the other day because i noticed the wobble on the highway too.

don't forget to check the gap between the fenders and the hood on both sides after each adjustment.
