Default Radiator Problems & More...

Or more play time with the truck, however you wanna look at it.

So I've just went through my 2nd radiator in my truck. Apparently the aluminum/plastic casings just don't hold up for me. Am I restricted to just buying the exact year/model radiator for my truck? Is there a better one out there that isn't too costly?

Also, should a less-than-a-expert mechanic tackle changing a fuel pump? Mine seems to be at it's least end and needs to me replaced. If I did myself I'd plan on just taking the bed off rather than lifting/dropping the tank as this would seem to be easier for me.

Thanks in advance for the awesome input DodgeForum and it's members put forth.

Edit: Ooo.. Also what do I need to do to try and tackle finding the problem with my cruise control? Where should I begin at and end at before I try and take it in if nothing works? It hasn't been working for awhile now and I'd like to change that since I'll be driving my truck during a trip soon.

Brass rads are pretty expensive, try a radiator shop.

I've always said I think it's ridiculous and dangerous to remove/raise the bed when doing fuel pump.Working with fuel is bad enough, why add to the danger. One person can do the job if the tank is dropped, low or no fuel of course.

And as far as the CC goes, check the fues, make sure you have no vacuum leaks any where (including the 4wd unit on the front axle if it's 4x4), there is also hose under the battery tray going to the CC module. And if you look in the DIY section there is a thread on how to clean the switch on the steering wheel.

dakota just got a radiator for 65$.
i paid 130$ at advance.
if the tank is about empty then i say drop the tank. it shouldn't be too hard for someone thats kind of new to wrenching.
for the cruise, check out the cruise control servo under the battery. i bet that either that or the vacuum line attached to it has a hole in it and you're losing vacuum.
