Default What's the highest safe octane for our magnums?

The street drags are this weekend and I'm entering my pickup just to have some fun. But I want to know what is the safest level of octane I can throw into this beast. I only use 91 Shell Vpower gas already so w00t!

If you use more than the lowest octane it will run well on,it's a waste cash.

i agree. the timing and compression of these engines dont need higher than 87 octane. they were designed to run on low end fuel. the only way you will see any benefit from a higher octane is if you have a custom computer tune that requires it. other than that, stick with whatever you're using. you gonna go slow no matter what fuel you use .

When my engine was still stock it ran like crap on 87 oct. you would be safe with going with 100 oct. but really the only benifit you'll see is a cooler engine temp since you already run 91 you wont see much more power increase.

Does your truck ping with 91 V-Power? If not, you dont need a higher octane.

No my truck does not ping with 91 v-power. It used to ping like crazy when I put 87 in. I haven't tried 87 since I replaced the plenum and a bunch of other things though. But when my friend tried to use his computer to tune my truck even with 91 v-power it was pinging like crazy.
