Default 3116 CAT swap??

I am looking at putting a CAT 3116 in a 2001 2500 Ext. cab. I am wondering if the frame would be strong enough for the swap. Right now the CAT is in a GM 4x4 flat bed truck and I have both truck just sitting in the back yard so I thought I would just combine them to make a sweet tow rig. What do you guys think about it?

It is a few hundred more pounds, the problem I'm wondering about is the power issue. It has about 1800 ft/lbs of torque and 350 hp. I don't want to put it in and twist the frame from the torque.

yeah it has a 4-speed auto and transfer case with it, I'm pretty much going to have to make a custom mount for the trans and transfer case. I'm also going to reuse the wireharness out of the flatbed and have to make my own gauge cluster.

i would think that it should be ok. there are lots of guys running 1500ft/lbs in 2nd gen rams. they pull sleds and drag race and drive around every day.

Hydraulic Electronic Unit Injection.

It's what the 7.3 and 6.0 Powerjoke used, an expensive, unnecessary complexity IMO.

it would be great seems that you have everything laying around, and yes the frame would handel it, but the cummins swap would be a lot eaiser, a lot more simple and reliable engine, and probably a lot better fuel milage than the kitty. but swaps are always fun and it your up for the challenge i say go for it, i love doing that kind of stuff
