Don't remember the exact ratings I was quoted, they were ballpark of what you guys are saying.
Good idea, I'll check the fuse.

Since the core charge is like $60, I'll probably yank it first and bring it in anyhow, just to be sure that they match up correctly.
So far the cheapest was about $120.

I believe the other rating was 90 for the alt. Don't know about the fuse for that one.

Mine has the heavy duty service group which includes a 136A alternator and a 700A?(don't remember, that's long gone) battery.
However, the fuse in my PDU is 120A.
My alternator went out in June and took the battery with it. I replaced it with the 136A version.
Why would the fuse not be correct, and should I get a 140A fuse?

Are you the original owner of the truck? Its possible, I suppose, that a previous owner put in the wrong fuse (maybe what some lackie at an auto store told him). Yes, you should get a fuse slightly higher than the alternator's rating.

I believe the HD service group came with a 750A battery.

120 amp fuse in mine by the way, put off doing it due to cold, drizzly weather.
Cheapest I found is $110, at a hole in the wall place by me.
Most expensive, NAPA at $145.
Murrays/autozone ect average around $130.

With the age of my truck, not really all that concerned with getting a top of the line part, if in fact there is much difference between any of them.

if dollars are more important than having a new/rebuilt one, and you have a junk yard anywhere around you, you might be able to get a used one for around $25-35. i'd imagine anything from a ram, dak, van, or durango would work.

Nah, I don't want to get that cheap.
I just don't think NAPA will offer anything substantially better for $30 more, in this case.
Plus the nearest NAPA is about 7 miles away, this other one about 5 blocks.

2nd gen Rams get scavenged pretty quick around here, its hard to locate any in the first place, when you do they are usually picked clean.
I had a helluva time trying to track down a new lid seal for my master cylinder, finally ended up having to fabricate one of my own after going to every junkyard in a 20 miles radius.

Lets see, I got the truck in 2002, probably less than 100,000.
Now about to turn 200,000, I have no reason to believe it isn't original.
