my 96 360 runs at 220....has since I bought it a month ago...was actually considering the 180 state everyone recomends here maybe its time for a coolant flush?..its odd that you say it runs hotter on the highway than the city....My damn aircooled VW on the otherhand still runs waay to hot even after practically tearing it down to the block and rebuilding....

augie, thats a little too warm there for you. i dont think i've ever heard of a 360 with a normal operating temp of 220. should be right around 195-200...

Sounds normal for FLA. If it was a stock 195 F stat.A 180F would prooly work good there.I have one in mine and it threw a code last winter on coldest morning of the winter when it was 8 or 9 degrees here in NC.

Ya I was wondering about that.... I noticed a gurgling sound in the cab last night and am wondering if somethings wrong with my heater core as the carpet was soaked on the passengers side a couple of times...funny thing is it isnt all the time .....think im going to do a flush and change the stat myself..... funny My vette runs hot at 225 in town also.... I replaced the stat with a 180 degree one but that only helps on the highway due to the electric fan not kicking in till 225 at town speeds...I replaced the temp switch too....so I kinda chalked it up to the gauge reading too high...

Be sure to get the good ones and not the ones made in Mexico or Taiwan that don't work for beans. The metal is no good and, the temp ratings are so far off that it's a crap shoot as to where the needle is going to point.

Here's where you can buy a good one from: http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...=&partid=23360

There's many places that sell those so, do shop around.
?? my whole Ram was made in Mexico ??...Explains a lot.

How do you bleed the air out of the system I noticed gurgling in the cab last night?

raise the passenger side front of the truck as high as you can, open the cap, let the tstat open and for the air bubbles to stop and keep filling it meanwhile.

I jacked up the front right of the truck about a foot, took the cap off(cold)squeezed all the air I could out of the hoses then topped it off w/coolant every 15 min. until I couldn't get any more in it.Then started it up and let it run with the cap off and let the remaining air come out where you fill it.When it gets warm top it off again and put the cap on.Make sure the overflow bottle is empty when you start.Let the jack down.It worked well fo me, no more gurgling.
