overcharging problem

Default overcharging problem

hello everyone i have a 2001 dodge ram sport 5.2L every now and then my check gauges light comes on and then my battery gauge shoots up and pins at 18volts for a little while it also makes a whining noise i replaced the alternator but that didn't fix it i was looking for a external voltage regulator but the only info i can find is that it's in the pcm anyone have any clue what could be the problem. thanks steve

I just recently started having issues with my PCM. The voltage regulator is controlled by the computer. Mine spikes to 18 for minutes at a time. WE (you and I)now have a buss issue. You can read more on my post.
