Default 2WD to 4WD conversion help

I have bought and sold a Duramax in one year! My trusty 250K, 96 12 valve 3500 DRW is loyal. I will not spend good money on another truck. I do need 4WD. Still knowing DRW 4WD are not top performers. I have found a DRW Club Cab 155" frame. and will reuse my 2wd rear end, and find a front 4wd axle.

Is the axle interschangeable from a 2500 ? Hub adapters that bolt to the rotor.? or do I need a DRW front axle totally?

I have found a core to send off for the NV4500 wd tranny and need to find a NP241 T/C,

Advise?

Why not just buy a 2500/3500 4X4? Seems like you're going through a lot of trouble for much the same thing. What's a DRW?

Default Drw

Dual Rear Wheel

I cannot put 30K behind a 2500. Or I would not. I like my truck I bought new.

It's not to complicated, but just want to find the right parts the first time.

I bought my 08 LMM Duramax and drove it a year and was unhappy, and yet turned a profit. Why not put it into the truck I like and have taken care of. And get what I want.

Just need some swap interchangeability advise. I can buy a 96 2500 4wd 360 gas , auto. 4.10. for 1400.00 and core the transfercase and linkage, but was wandering if the front axle was still the same and had dually extensions on the front hubs and etc.

Anyone can comment or done it?

you would want to make sure the frontend is at least a dana 60 (although not necessary). You will need to weld the brackets for the four front control arms and spring pockets, as well as cut off the old mounts. you can use the DRW front hub adapters that are just giant spacers. you would need some 3500 diesel front springs though. the gas ones wont hold the wieght.

if you already have a 4wd frame than the brackets will already be there.
