did this just start? if it did, i'm willing to bet its your oil pressure sending unit. my oil pressure started running below where it normally ran (40) and even got on the wrong side on the safe line damn near to 0 and all it turned out to be was the oil pressure sending unit. when that happened my first thoughts were the same as yours, "oh **** this isn't good." so try hookin up a different gage and if it reads the same as the one in your pickup (really low), then you should start worrying. if it reads like it normally would (around 45 or whatever it was), don't worry a bit, its an easy fix to replace the sending unit, kind of.

could be oil pump, could be worn bearings, could be sending unit.
mine was a tad low - so i changed the oil pump and sending unit.
result - slightly lower pressure. damn.

a manual oil pressure gauge might be good test to see if your stock gauge is accurate or not.
thicker oil like 20w50 can generate a little higher pressure.
but - i'm not convinced that slightly low oil pressure is actually a problem...

ya i wouldnt be so worried about it if it was like 35 or 40 but it drops down kinda low in OD. ive heard engines with lower oil pressure last longer but idk. id just like to keep it up in the 35 40 range in OD. ill do a manual oil pressure check 2nite to see wats goin on. hopefully its just the sending unit
