Default Burning oil

I changed my oil in July. I've only driven 1600 miles since then. This afternoon, I was driving through town, and my oil pressure dropped to nothing when I stopped at a stop light.

So I checked the oil, and I was 2 1/2 quarts low. My truck has 215000 miles on it, and I can understand that a truck with many miles on it would use oil at a faster rate, but this seems ridiculous.

I checked the intake for oil, and it was fine. There is no oil leaking under the truck.

Is there something else that would cause that much oil to burn?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

odds are 99% its the plenum, even if you don't see anything.
hughes plate is the cure.

Are you sure it's being burned and not leaking somewhere?

Or a Hughes FI intake manifold.

i have the same problem except i loose oil after the 3000 mile intervals. Im 200 miles over and now its starting to burn. i used mobil 1 synthetic 5w30 with a quart of lucus oil stabilizer, and a mobil 1 filter.

So try using a lucus oil stabilizer. my truck has 192,XXX andsince ive changed it doesnt burn or leak a drop until the 3000 miles have passed

It's not uncommon for a higher miles engine to use oil.I usually put about 2 qts. per 5000.To me full syn oil goes away sooner than dino.No test,It just seems that way to me.But the benefits of syn have been proven, and outweight the extra $$$ of it.I've never worried about the oil in my truck, when it's time to change it, I change it.I check it every week or 2,if it needs some, I add some.
