Default bondo, bondo, bondo

a couple weeks ago i removed my trim and on the drivers side it took off a small chunk of bondo and i found a small dent on the cab and apparently theres some bondo on the door, yay.....well today i got out with the drill and paint remover wheel and went to work on it, heres pics,

doesnt look like it goes any higher (found bondo on top of paint), but i think the whole lower has a light skim coat

i was completely oblivious to this dent b4 removing trim

before i took the trim off, i already noticed these chips here, i hit a spot and theres a thin layer here

so, i plan on trying to redo this...and need some tips, i have played around with it b4 but nothin serious, should i apply it to bare metal or primed surface? im gonna spaybomb it for now since moneys tight and i plan on a respray in the future....any other tips welcome

doncha hate it when you find something like that

your lucky compared to me, i have rust hole in my rear fender, looks like i learn bodywork this winter when im on break, that and the plenum, timing chain, t stat, and cat delete

yay owning old trucks

bondo ain't too bad, just mix it right, if you don't mix right, it will literally get hot and cure real fast, i mean as in a few short minutes before you can work it real well

I would first buy a cheap set of body tools and try to work more of the damage out along the bed...OOORRR
go to one of those paintless dent removal places and see if they can push them out for a reasonable price.
Instead of bondo, I'd use what is called a "featherweight" or "lightweight" filler. This type of filler is a bit pricier than bondo but is stronger, more flexible, has better adhesion, and sands smoother.

i would use the fiberglass resin with strands (long or short) as you first layer, then use body filler for the rest. ( my rocker was roited out, and thats how i fixed it.)

seeing as this is a bodywork thread, what would y'all suggest to use on a hole in my fender, short of welding metal in
