ya, after last night, i kinda want to get them like now. lol. but of course i dont have the funds...yet. i believe if i had some better ***** on those tires i wouldnt have gotten stuck... ive pretty much eliminated everything except the actuator itself, im planing on pulling the cad unit out, and try to engage the 4x and see if the fork moves outside the axle, if the actuator is good itll move like it should, if not then thats my problem, though im hoping that its hung up inside.

 

You need to test the vacuum at the lines first. If you want more detailed info you'll have to wait until tomorrow. Sorry, but I'm going though some bs health wise. PM me if you like and I'll try and help tomorrow morning.

 

Save yourself some time and aggravation and just put a Posi-Lok kit in. Not only does it replace the goofy vacuum system, but with it you will always know that the axle is engaged and stays engaged. It wasn't difficult to install and is well worth the $210 it cost me.

 

if you are getting a 4wd light when u put it in 4hi or 4low then take the two vacuum hose that go into your front axle and switch them around

i found this out the hard way, after lift they got switched and i got stuck in the snow. i tryed everything to get it to work then i decided i would switch the hoses, and bang it works like a charm.

 

How did you switch the hoses? On my truck the hoses were in a molded plug that only goes on one way. You'd have to turn it upside down to put it on wrong.

 

i tested the vacuum and all that, i have vacuum at the hoses, and it switches when i put the tcase in 4x, the cad just doesnt engage the axle. i think im just gonna pick up a few cad units from the junk yard, and swap it out, that way ill have spares, or just a part to sell if someone needs it. but i will be doing a posi lock, after i get new tires though. which will be a few months, and i need to get the 4x fixed asap.

 

I got a disconnect setup off of another axle so if I messed up I wasn't screwed. I drilled through the fork and housing. Installed a bicycle hand brake adjuster to the housing and used a cable and control handle from an lawn mower throttle control. The hardest part was tracking down a spring the right size and tension to use on the inside to help move the fork back into the disengaged position. It was cheaper than buying a Posi-Lock and it worked.

well on mine it has 2 hoses that are only connected by a metal clip to the axle, i just took and pinched the clips together and switched them.

 

well gus, i fixed it, turns out the gear inside the axle thats supposed to slide was hung up on the outer axle, and not moving at all, so i had to use a ractchet extension to pry it over, and it didnt take much force, but certainly alot more than the vacuum motor can do, then i had to pull the axle out(again) clean the splines, then put it back in, i made sure i cleaned it after i put it back through the axle tube, then made sure the motor could slide it back and forth before i bolted everythign back together, and i did this by sucking on the vacuum lines 1 at a time, and it moved freely both ways, so i put everythign back together, and then tryed it out, and at first it didnt engage, but then once i shifted out of drive to neutral, then reverse, the 4wd light came on, and bam it was locked in.
