Question Newbie here - transmission question

Hi all

I did a search for my problem and I have questions about the possible answers.

I have a Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel 1996 - Autoshift - It is jumping from overdrive to 4th and back up again, but can't stay in overdrive at 65/70 mph. I think it might be jumping back and forth in the lower gears too, but I don't know if you go into overdrive at low speeds (like 25/30mph)?

"yes, it's your torque converter locking and unlocking"

Question - does my truck have one of those?

I also found the Diagnosis Charts posted. Question - is 'slipping' the same as jumping? Second Question - if the overdrive clutch pack needs replacing and/or the seals/pistons need replacing and/or the overdrive unit needs replacing, is this the same as having your transmission rebuilt?

Thank you

Actually, I wouldn't know if I had or not. Do you mean is the truck 'jacked up' or do you mean does it have a snow plough lift attachment? I know I don't have a snow plough and I don't *think* the truck is modified in any way.
