Why?
So I just finished a summer of doing a mega-list of things to my Ram (new audio wiring, full interior removed detail job, new nerph bars, complete exterior detail job, restore/polish Eagle Alloys, regular maintenance stuff ... I even polished the handcuffs hanging from the rear view mirror. The only thing I didn't do was replace the dash pad since money was tight, but other than that I finally got everything done when .....
MY WINDSHIELD HAS A CRACK!
Guess I'll find out tomorrow how much this is going to cost me, probably the same amount I was saving by holding off on the dash.

I just did one of those "get three quotes" on the internet and got three prices all a bit over $300, also did an online "Safelite" quote and got $178 + $12 for some moldings + tax. I have an acquaintance who does this, he didn't answer his cell so I guess I'll know better tomorrow.
I think I figured out wtf happened. For some reason the previous owner had removed two of those five torx buttons AND SHAFTS that hold down the plastic cowl at the bottom of the windshield, there is/was a small chip at the edge next to where one of those was removed ... and that's where the crack starts.
I thinky my new subs aggravated it ...

are we playing it a little loud.
i'd be surprised to find a windshield under about $180-200. what i've always done is look them up in the local yellow pages. call them and start with - this is out of my pocket, not insurance. it drops the price a good bit. then keep asking them to beat the other guy. 3 or 4 or 5 calls usually establishes the bottom price where they won't go any lower.

No, they don't. My AAA doesn't at least. I'd be happy if they did 'cause I need one. The windshield is either it's own deductible or its part of your comprehensive deductible.
