just hook up the "switch" wire on the radio to the "constant" on the truck. no rocker or toggle needed. just use the on/off switch on the radio. just dont forget to turn your radio off when you go in for the night.

Problem with that is you lose the fuse and the radio will be unprotected from a surge or short.

Then you still have to worry about the H/U actually turning off. Most decks these days won't actually power down just by turning the deck off. They go into a DEMO mode. I still do not see the point in this! Hell, has anyone actually thought about the fact that they key is locked in the ignition when flipped back to ACC? This means if someone is working out of their truck, and some hoodlum comes along to lift his keys, the person at work is going to know really damn quick because their tunes just stopped.

We see your point, but I get where the guy is comming from, but there are viable reasons where a switch for the radio would be very useful. If you don't think so, its all good.

For example I was at parking lot where a bunch of tuners and trucks decided to meet (bunch of college kids killing time). I know your into audio laramie so who's to say if you were in the same situation you wouldn't provide the music for the group. Probably 60 vehicles total... etc. Would you want to stand by your truck the whole time or would you want to go check out the star of the show at the other end (the cam'd viper ... multiple tv's and tv's for the tv's to watch lol) and a few muscle cars etc. Anyway that is at least one situation where a switch would be handy.

As for what crazzywolfe, I commonly roll the windows down and turn the radio when the truck is sitting in the driveway and im working in the yard or working on anything really... When im near it cool, but if i take a break or something to go get a drink, it is a pain to roll the windows up, lock it (i have manual locks so both doors) and take the keys. But like he said if it only takes a couple seconds. In fact I used to keep the keys in my old mustang at the store because my area wasn't really into crime. Ha, well I was wrong about that. A year ago our house got robbed. Lol needless to say I am more careful now, but... yeah.

It would also be nice for when you need to run into a store quick to pick something up and don't need everyone else in the truck to get out to go in with you. Would be nice to leave the radio on and take the keys with you.

To be honest, next time I have the bezel off I will be doing this mod. Like they say... A lock keeps an honest man, honest. Pretty much the same thing can apply to this. No unwatched keys in the ignition keeps an honest man, honest. Not to keep going, but there was actually a tv episode about bait vehicles with keys in them. It is surprising.... but im sure you can guess what happens. Best part was their excuses they came up with.

Touche.

You are right, I've done that before, but this must boil down to the rural environment that I live in most of the time. Hell, there isn't one door or window in this house locked down, and right now, all the windows are open. All of our garages are unlocked as well. All of our vehicles here are unlocked and the keys in the ignition. Now, before you call me a dumbass, I challenge anyone to try to slink down the drive way with out alerting the dogs to the fact that there is a visitor. If you make it past the dogs, I guarantee you wont be able to start any of our trucks up with out me or someone else hearing it, and you'll more than likely get shot in the process.
Not saying that when I'm on campus my truck isn't locked. Not at all. I lock that damn thing up tighter than a drum with sun shades over every window so no one can see in. I've never had a reason to install a security alarm, but I'm thinking the next truck will have one.

I still don't get it. If you're at a sound off or car show and want to go looking around, why would you want to leave your stereo going without being around? So some jerk can come over and blip the volume all the way up and blow your system? And if you pull up to a convenience store with other people in the car and think enough of them to want to leave the stereo going for them, then why can't you leave the keys in it? Aren't they your friends?

The one and only reason I can think of for doing this has yet to be mentioned. So you can run the stereo without the annoying ding. Mine dings even in the ACC position if the driver's door is open.

Another thing I forget about. I disabled mine about 30minutes after I first put in the fosgates.
