My Ears Are Bleeding...
But its so worth it. After two days of troubleshooting and installing and tinkering the install is complete. I popped in Shiny Toy Guns and cranked it to 25...
The people beside me at Sonic turned their heads real quick to see what the commotion was about.
Polk DB 6x9s and 1 Inch Tweeters. Power Acoustik LFA2-420 powering the setup. Chan 1 to the left side and Chan 2 to the right. And believe me I cannot express how much bass there is. Its probably equivalent to an 8 inch or 10 inch Kicker Comp in an SUV. Like I said, my ears are bleeding.
I have to give thanks to Barry at Applings Automotive, Laramie1997 for his help in troubleshooting, which adding the amp solved all of my problems but now I have engine whine through the speakers... oh well can't hear when the radio is on anyway
- and Bryan for doing the install.
Next up on the list is the substage, I already have a box laying back there, just have to add amp and Kicker Comps. 2 10 inches. But that'll be a while I think. A few months ahead.
Pictures will come Sunday due to the festival being in town, its going to be a long work weekend. I probably won't take pictures of the speakers because they're mounted in the door panels and I'm not taking those off again.
But... this is by far the best sounding audio setup I've heard in a while ^.^
And a footnote: I think I sat out in the truck for 15 minutes, engine running, just listening to the music...

I'm glad to hear you got it all running, man! It truly is an addiction in many ways.
And, I still catch myself just sitting in my Ram for a few minutes when I get home just listening to the speakers. Wait until you get those woofers in. Then you'll be tightening down your seat bolts every oil change.

While I'm going to agree that it does sound good. I've learned that you don't want to let everyone know that you have an aftermarket radio in there. Letting everyone know you have a awesome system tends to lead to having thieves try to steal it.
They can try... but they won't get very far. Next mod on my list is a Viper 5901. And then an SCT Tuner, Exhuast... yadda yadda.
Anyways, people knew that I had a system in my old truck and it never got stolen.. I also had a 700 dollar Amateur Radio setup in there that was obvious and it was never taken either.
But you can never be too sure of yourself so I remember to lock my doors, park in well lit areas, and key an eye on my vehicles.

Yeah I had a system in my truck for quite a while. A few years. Finally I guess my luck ran out and someone stole it. I was always paranoid about locking my doors. Not saying it's going to happen just saying after having it happen to me I feel like it would probably be best to if you are going to have one let as few as people know. It was one of those things I didn't really expect to happen until it did.
In my experience, there are two main things that cause that. Bad grounds somewhere in the electrical system, or a dying alternator. The sound your hearing is actually coming from the alternator, and as you rev the engine, it spins the alternator faster and the sound becomes higher pitched. Does this describe the sound?
I would also suggest that if your going to run multiple amps, you should get a 2 farad or higher capacitor to help save the alternator and battery from the high power spikes.

i think this is electrical noise coming from the alternator. mine does it too, on both my CD player and CB radio. a little bit on the CD, a lot on CB. i put in a cheapo electrical filter in the power wire for the CB and it worked for a long time, then started again. i guess something inside popped.
anybody got an opinion on electrical noise ?

I'm not really worried about the alternator noise it isn't that bothering. But I did realize something today... my left channel is my right and my right channel is my left if that makes sense :P
Hehe. Now I just need to do some tuning and try to bring out da bass. Photos to come.

the whine can also come from induced noise in the rca wires,if their ran along side the power wires. one fix would be to buy a set of twisted rcas or just run the rcas down the other side of the truck.
