Seriously, the main differences are in the drivetrain. Heavier duty axles, beefier frames, heavier suspensions and higher load capacities. There are also things like heavy duty charging and cooling systems and larger gas tanks. And you can't get a diesel or a V10 in a 1500. A 2500 with a V8 is considered a light-duty truck, but still heavier duty than a 1500 simply because it will have a higher towing and hauling capacity.
