Tranny downshifting into neutral
I have a 2001 Ram 4x4 5.9L 1500 with 100K miles. I have a problem that I have not been able to find any reference to in this forum, or via google. The tranny shifts smooth through all gears, however at highway speeds, when I go up a hill and it downshifts for more power, it will often go into neutral. It is not downshifting to a lower gear as there is no sudden deceleration – the rpm red line and I have to let off the gas for it to smoothly shift back into gear. The problem is worse when I am towing, even with the overdrive disabled.
