Whats the Largest tire you can run with a 3 inch suspension lift?
I have tried to do a search but the stupid search engine dont like me and Im running out of time. Hunting season starts this weekend and I have to get tires!
I put a 3 inch suspension lift on my brothers 1997 Ram 1500 4x4. I put an old set of rims I had off my hunting truck that were about 1/2 the backspacing his stock rims had which pushed the tires out away from the arm it was rubbing on. He wants the 35x14.5x15 SuperSwamper Boggers which are exactly 35inches tall and have a tread width of 12.5. 4wheel parts says they probably wont fit but Id rather ask you guys cause fact is you guys know WAY more about these trucks than the salesmen do.
If they wont fit is their a cheap/fast way to get just enough to make them fit? We know we will probably have to trim the little lip that sticks out from the corner of the cab that the tire will rub on but did not want to trim the fender at the bottom of the cab.
THANKS GUYS and sorry about the search thing, were just out of time.

they will fit, but with that kind of backspacing, the front tires will most likely hit the back of the wheelwell and the bumper. The 35s will fit, but they will be stuffed. i would just go with 33s, they are more than capable.

The info on Top Guns Customz website where we got the 3 inch kit from says it will fit up to a 35x12.5 but the tread width can always vary...Thats why I wanted some 1st hand info.
Is their any way to get another inch out of the lift fast and cheap?

Those 14.5 boggers won't fit, and if you push them away from inner fender with a positive offset rim they'll tag the the fender wells (scrub steer). I don't believe you could trim away enough of the fender to clear them.
A body lift would probably give you the acceptable clearance. Or the recommended tire on the proper rim.
I hope your brother is a good mechanic. If he isn't he soon will be... Boggers will make mincemeat of his front d-44 axle.

I couldn't clear 35" boggers with 6" of lift. Even steering on flat ground would rub the fenders... turning in off road situations was a joke. Granted, they were the 16" wide tires with 12" wide wheels, but still. They only measured a half inch wider than the 14.5's.
If you/he installed a body lift, got the 12.5" wide 35's, and kept them on some decently backspaced 10" wide wheels, I think they would fit fine.
I agree with helms and suggest the 33's. They are only 12.5" wide and will fit much better, and you will still have all the traction that open diff's can offer (if they are locked, plan on breaking stuff).
And what gears does he have? Anything under 4.10's and he might as well scrap the idea for 35's (regardless of the clearance issues).... trust me.
